Breakdown Service Offers Tips To Avoid A Valentine’s Day Breakdown

UK breakdown provider GEM Motoring Assist has urged couples to check their vehicles before embarking on their Valentine’s Day trips.

The breakdown service has warned that many trips could be ruined without a little bit of vehicle maintenance and checking beforehand.

GEM recommends that couples planning a weekend trip for Valentine’s Day keep some emergency supplies in their vehicle, along with a fully charged mobile phone in case of a crash or breakdown.

David Williams, chief executive officer of GEM, commented: “We are urging romantics looking to travel on Valentine’s weekend to be cautious this year as no one wants to be caught out in an embarrassing spot with their partner.

“After all, the hard shoulder of a motorway or being stuck in the middle of nowhere is hardly the most romantic gesture.”

Given the current wintry weather across the UK, travellers are again reminded to keep an eye out for icy roads and severe weather conditions.
